Shadow Weave is a fascinating color and weave effect that gives the weaver a lot of design bang for only a minimal investment in extra time. In this workshop, we will: Learn how it works, including a discussion of both the Atwater and Powell methods of drafting; Explore different threading structures; Examine varieties in treadling and the amazing difference they make in the look of the cloth; Learn how yarn choice and color variations can really change the look of the cloth; Play with designing our own Shadow Weave drafts, including converting common weave structures to Shadow Weave; Learn best practices for winding a two-color warp, back-to-front warping and threading for Shadow Weave; Weave a Shadow Weave project using your choice of yarns; Weave multiple Shadow Weave samples that illustrate different colors and weave effects on table looms provided by the instructor. You will leave this workshop feeling amazed at the variety and designs possible with Shadow Weave! In addition, for those who wish to participate, there will be a special interactive Zoom session on how to create a Shadow Weave draft using the popular weaving software iWeaveIt.
