Basic Painting for Beginners

Please join me for an oil painting / acrylic painting class Tuesday afternoons, at the Amarillo Art Institute. I am here to help you with learning beginning techniques for painting what you want to create. I will help you with design, style, composition, and color mixing from start to finish while encouraging individual creativity... and having fun while we do it! This class is for beginners or if you haven't picked up a brush in many years. More advanced classes are also listed. Paints: (I mix my colors but if you currently paint, bring what you have to start instead of investing in more specific colors.) Titanium White Ivory Black Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon Yellow Yellow Ochre Cadmium Red Medium Alizarin Crimson Burnt Sienna Ultramarine Blue or Cerulean Blue Optional Colors – a premixed green, orange or purple you like. Brushes: Various sizes of Flat and Round Bristles (Synthetic brushes are also fine to use and not all sizes are required just a variety) Other Supplies: Stretched Canvas, Canvas Boards or Prepared Boards, the size preference is up to you. 8x10, no larger than 16x20. 3-4 Reference Pictures you would like to paint.
